Colleagues,
In the interest of transparency and adherence to Rule 5, I submit the following petition for formal action.
I am sharing with you a petition drafted under Rule 5 of our committee procedures. This petition specifies charges of abusive behavior by Rick Lass and proposes curtailment of his membership privileges, up to and including removal from the Ballot Access Committee.
As Rule 5 requires, the petition must be signed by at least three members from three different states. Your support is essential to ensure that the co‑chairs initiate formal action and forward the petition to the state party or caucus Mr. Lass represents.
This is not about personal disagreement, it is about protecting the integrity of our committee process and ensuring that all members can participate without hostility or abuse.
If you are willing to add your name, please reply with your name and state so we can include you as a petitioner.
Thank you for considering this important step toward maintaining a respectful and functional committee environment.
We charge that Rick Lass, current member of the Ballot Access Committee, has engaged in a continuing pattern of hostile and abusive communication toward fellow committee members.
This behavior includes:
- Use of dismissive and derogatory language in official committee correspondence.
- Repeated disruption of the committee process through hostile demands and personal attacks.
- Creation of an environment that undermines constructive deliberation and deters member participation.
These actions constitute verbal abuse and are inconsistent with the standards of respectful communication expected of committee members.
Proposed Action
We petition that Rick Lass’s membership privileges in the Ballot Access Committee be curtailed, up to and including removal from the committee, in accordance with Rule 5.
Petitioners
Signed, - Margery Hanson – Nevada
- Elizabeth Humphrey – Massachusetts
- Tony Ndege – North Carolina/Lavender Caucus
- Nick Blessing – Kansas
- Michael Stewart – South Carolina
Procedural Request
We respectfully request that the co‑chairs, pursuant to Rule 5, initiate and administer formal action to curtail the membership privileges of Mr. Lass. In accordance with procedure, this petition should be forwarded to the state party or caucus he represents, together with the supporting evidence cited below, including video documentation.
