NEVADA GREEN PARTY ENDORSES MATT HAND FOR STEERING COMMITTEE, SECRETARY OF THE GREEN PARTY OF THE UNITED STATES
(LAS VEGAS, Nev.) — The Nevada Green Party (NVGP) announces its endorsement of Matt Hand for Steering Committee, Secretary of the Green Party of the United States (GPUS).
Matt Hand is a dedicated member of the Maryland Green Party, with significant work experience in web development and project management. These and his other professional skills will serve the GPUS well as Secretary, the position with the most administrative responsibilities on the Steering Committee.
Hand is personable and approachable so he will be a friendly face while onboarding new delegates and committee members. He is timely and responsive, so communications will be efficient, and proposal-related deadlines will always be met. Hand is organized and motivated, so Steering Committee Members will always be prepared for meetings and thorough meeting minutes will be kept and shared transparently.
Hand is very willing and able to take a stand on social justice issues. He recently produced a top-tier webinar in support of transgender rights and reinforcing transgender inclusiveness, in the party platform named “Restorative Justice in Action.” The featured speaker, Margaret Elisabeth, Co-Chair of GPUS and Co-Chair of the National Lavender Greens Caucus, explained the accreditation challenge against the Georgia Green Party for the platforming of trans-discrimination. Another featured speaker, Amergin Ó Kai, Delegate on GPUS National Committee and Member of the National Lavender Greens Caucus, exposed the assault on Trans Rights, by state legislatures across the nation. The moderator, Delilah Barrios, candidate for Texas Governor 2022, Latinx Caucus member and Indigenous Caucus member, provided a safe space for speakers and attendees, to be candid on this personal and sensitive subject matter.
Hand provides excellent technical support to the NVGP on its web site. He volunteers for the Green Maps project that lists all state parties and their locals, and quickly provides new web sites forthe NVGP’s campaigns and committees. Hand developed the “Delilah Barrios for Texas Governor” web site and also designed the campaign logo and starter graphics. In recent years, Hand was a volunteer with the Franca Muller Paz campaign for Baltimore City Council (2020). He also designed the logo and yard sign graphics for the Bob Auerbach for Congress 2012 campaign, which helped to make Matt Hand a national figure in the Green Party. Clearly, Matt is more than willing to lend a hand when Greens need it most.
“We endorse Matt Hand for Secretary because we know he will support bold statements from the Steering Committee, while honoring the 10 Key Values and the Four Pillars of the Green Party US Platform. We endorse Matt Hand because we know he will serve us as Secretary, in a professional, courteous and friendly manner. We endorse Matt Hand because he brings energy and enthusiasm from the Green Party grassroots, that will invigorate our Steering Committee. We endorse Matt Hand because he is the Secretary we need to meet this historic moment, where the Green Party leads the Eco-Socialist Movement that heals Mother Earth.”
