The Green Party Peace Action Committee (GPAX) views the conflict in Ukraine as the tragic, yet inevitable, result of relentless effort by the U.S., NATO, and the European Union for global economic, political, and military dominance. Within this context, the current conflict stems from the 2014 US-backed coup of Ukraine’s democratically elected government – and in the determination of the U.S./EU/NATO to convert Ukraine, whose government recently stated its intention to acquire nuclear weapons, into a heavily militarized NATO member nation located on the border of the Russian Federation.
NATO’s expansion has been a pressing security concern for Russia since 1998, when the U.S. govt. inaugurated the formal process of growing NATO’s membership to include former nations of the Warsaw Pact – Poland, Hungary, and the Czech Republic. NATO expansion into Eastern Europe has been carried out, not only in violation of a pledge – made by Secretary of State James A. Baker to then-Soviet premier Mikhail Gorbachev in 1990 – that NATO would not expand one inch eastward with the end of the Cold War, but also in violation of subsequent treaties in which the U.S. and its allies committed to respect the security concerns of other countries, including the Russian Federation.
Today, as the conflict escalates, NATO’s aggressive expansion has become an existential threat to all oppressed and colonized people around the world. A similar effort to expand is occurring in Latin America with the use of Colombia and Brazil as U.S. proxies against Venezuela, Nicaragua, and Cuba. Also, in the African continent, regime change is enacted through AFRICOM funding and training. For peace to arrive in these regions and in the world, NATO and AFRICOM must be dismantled.
For GPAX, peace is not merely the absence of conflict. Peace means a world liberated from militarism, nuclear proliferation, imperialism and unjust war, patriarchy, and white supremacy. The resurgence and celebration of Nazism in Ukraine, as well as in the West, demonstrates that the global consolidation of xenophobia and racism, especially white supremacy, is an integral part of imperialism.
For GPAX, peace also means: dismantling the military-industrial complex and all intelligence agencies that engage in covert warfare & that subject U.S. citizens to unconstitutional surveillance for “anti-government” views; nationalizing the oil & gas industries that realize windfall profits from contrived world shortages (i.e. oil/gas from Iran, Venezuela and Russia are restricted); abolishing illegal unilateral economic sanctions that kill and cause untold suffering to the people of targeted countries; and nationalizing the Federal Reserve system – that funnels stolen & frozen foreign assets to select member banks which misuse these illicit funds in the repurchasing market to realize extraordinary profit. Witness what’s happening with Afghanistan’s assets, more than 20 years after the U.S. first invaded.
The only way to end war is to end corporate profiteering!
Bloated “defense” budgets must be reinvested into education, health and childcare, housing, and a people centered Green New Deal. While we grieve for the current loss of life in Ukraine, we also mourn over 14,000 deaths in Eastern Ukraine caused over the last 8 years by the Ukrainian military armed heavily by the U.S. We also mourn hundreds of thousands of deaths in Somalia, Yemen, and in every nation suffering because of NATO provoked wars and armed conflicts. We offer our unwavering solidarity with all victims of imperialism.
To secure the interests of the Russian and Ukrainian people, there must be good faith negotiations between the Russian Federation, representatives of the peoples of Donbas, and the Ukraine. The EU and the U.S. must end their continuous shipments of arms and other “lethal aid” to Ukraine. The 2015 Minsk agreements, signed by both Ukraine and Russia and the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, and approved by the UN Security Council in 2015, offer one formula for a diplomatic solution to the conflict that would satisfy the aspirations of the peoples of the Donbass for autonomy from the current Ukrainian government.
It was only after the Ukrainian government’s shelling of Eastern Ukraine, in violation of the Minsk agreement – which was confirmed by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) – that Russia, in mid-February, withdrew its support. The conflict in Ukraine has exposed the destructive effects of imperialism: war, racism, and militarism, which continually result in the unjust and anti-democratic redistribution & concentration of capital. Our demand for peace requires an end to U.S. imperialism and its implementation by NATO and other U.S. military alliances.
Late Newsletter Rent Control Rescind Right to Work Donations Background Checker Text Bank Helpers
The Nevada Green Party is Cactus Strong!!!
Late Newsletter: Many developments occurred during and within 48 hours after our February meeting, which curtailed some announcements significantly. The full scope of the changes will be addressed in March’s Nevada Green Rhythm. We apologize for this delay.
Rent Control: Corporate landlords have jumped on the price gouging wagon of individuals, making unexplained yearly increases in the State of Nevada and across the country, putting a great burden on a populace they stifle, from obtaining a living wage. We also recognize independent landlords follow suit while bulking up contracts with ‘mini repairs’ being the responsibility of the renter. Nevada’s Rent Regulations need an update to include rent control from unreasonable, harmful fees and hikes to renters. Right now we are seeing individuals being priced out of being able to rent a place to live.
Right to Work: The bitter pill. There are many flaws to the “Right to Work Act” that prevent all workers from having a fair voice. Topping off Right to Work issues Wisconsin has a hospital suing 7 employees from quitting to start working for a different company, for a higher wage and better promised conditions. One Right to Work standard is that the employee or company can terminate without notice or just cause and should not reflect negatively as long as there is no contracted length of employment expected. Forced labor must be stopped before “Right to Work” becomes 100% on the side of the employers only.
Donations: We are climbing! Thank you everyone! Buy Swag! Donate! All funds are being used for operational costs and expansion of Nevada’s outreach. The GPNV is currently keeping all donations in the State of Nevada, to aid in our efforts to build a strong, turnkey party from year to year, as officers change and our needs in the State of Nevada change. We are working on a process that will keep donations in the private sector and away from corporate funding. At this time GPNV is not contributing to GPUS, because they want our donor’s information and we feel that unless you give us permission to share your information or donation details, we will not at this time. Your privacy matters to us. Donating a portion of our donations to the GPUS is on the back-burner. We do not want to be another party, just about donations, we want to stay a party about standing up for “We the People”.
Background Checker: Times have changed. We have voted to use a background checker program in the future, to assist in reviewing individuals wanting to jump in fast and hard to assist the GPNV, and instead create havoc. With our great strides we have met unique situations that could have been prevented with an option to review past history. This is not to say that we will not welcome dedicated individuals, we only want to make sure that the position(s) have current and acceptable probation periods, if access to internal controls are to be issued. This is our party and we want to continue to strengthen our Party, our position and our voice.
Text Bank Helpers: We have the processes mapped out! Do not be surprised in the next 30 days if you receive a text from us. We have selected a free option to start. In the beginning you will receive one text, where you can let us know your confirm or remove preferences with texts and we will honor your wishes. Nobody likes spam texts so we are looking at 1 text a month to announce the GPNV Green Rhythm release and 1 text a month when we have candidates running for office. Hopefully in the future we will be able to touch base no more than 4 times a month, or once a week.
Registration: The GPNV Steering Committee suggests checking your status every 3-5 months, and during election seasons every month. It’s free! Remember the SOS has put us in the Minor Party selections and frequently updates their site.

The US is a de facto one-party state where the ideology of national security is sacrosanct, unsustainable debt props up the empire and the primary business is war.
(LAS VEGAS, Nev.) — The Nevada Green Party (GPNV) announced its support of a statement issued by the Diversity Committee of the Green Party US (GPUS).
The statement appears here in full:
The Diversity Committee of the GPUS requests that Greens learn the basics about the new committees and radical opinion groups that seek to splinter/fragment the Green Party.
Background information about these different organizations and their founding members is critical for Greens to be well aware of, to prevent further confusion and unneeded conflict from these highly controversial groups that have been actively trying to segregate the Green Party by gender orientation, and to use political pressure to refuse to obey our own platform beliefs and goals.
These groupings include the self-proclaimed committees Dialogue Not Expulsion (DNE), the Emergency Committee to Save the Green Party, and Gender-Critical Greens Political Action Committee (GCGP). All three are anti-transgender/anti-transwoman extremist pressure groups that seek to instigate chaos within the party with their dogmatic thinking against transpeople’s rights, and their destructive and militant approach to conflict.
DNE has members who have been and continue to be involved with Womens’ Liberation Front (WOLF) and Feminists In Struggle (FIST). FIST has been filing amicus briefs to try overturning protrans court decisions like the Supreme Court Bostock v. Clayton decision, which says that one can’t be fired for being transgender or for gender identity/expression. WOLF has worked with the Republican Party to put on religion-based “ex-trans” conferences, and boasts associations with the Proud Boys. The disaccreditation of Green Party of Georgia (GPGA) somehow has not stopped this group, which claimed their initial goal was to convince the GPUS to not discredit GPGA-and therefore to give anti-trans thinking a veneer of legitimacy within the party.
The Emergency Committee sprang up during the discussion and vote regarding GPGA. Members basically likewise spam-solicited fellow Greens to try keeping GPGA from being disaccredited, and, again, to propagate the notion that anti-trans thought was a legitimate topic for discussion within the party. Finally, GPGA is an actual PAC (Political Action Committee), which is collecting money to support its anti-trans activities, and whose members have solicited support from everyone on the GPUS National Committee, often in highly misleading form. This is a calculated attempt to sabotage and create discord within the Party. We call on fellow Greens to recognize these groupings for what they are, and to reject them outright, in keeping with the GPUS platform, which members overwhelmingly rededicated themselves to in the discussions of the last 18 months.
These issues are settled. We cannot allow such groups to continue to hijack our agenda for a moment longer.
ABOUT THE NEVADA GREEN PARTY
Founded in 2012, the Nevada Green Party is a community of Nevadans from all backgrounds, birthed from the idea that our actions should always reflect the best interests of all citizens and the earth. Its goals are to promote the values at the core of Green philosophy: Grassroots Democracy, Social Justice, Ecological Wisdom, Nonviolence, Decentralization, Community-based Economics, Gender and Racial Equality, Diversity, Personal and Global Responsibility and Future Focus. Working to build a truly democratic government free of lobbying and special interest, the Green Party does not take money from corporations.
Compassion & Choices: The GPNV Executive Committee was approached by Tri-Strategies in regard to legislation being written for Medical Aid with terminal illnesses. The GPNV has agreed to support this legislation as written and presented on 1.21.2022. Many that suffer from terminal illness deserve to have a choice. Bodily autonomy is one strength that the GPNV and GPUS strongly support. To find out more on the legislation please visit https://compassionandchoices.org/.
Delilah for Texas: We had an amazing interview with Delilah running for Texas Governor! As a registered GPNV member you never know who’s invited to our monthly meetings. For in depth details visit her website at: https://delilah-for-texas.greenparty.co/issues. Delilah comes from a medical background focused on many continuing issues other parties are exacerbating and offering no solutions. Her first focus is a Single Payer Healthcare system that should be available to all tax paying citizens, as easily as it is to our current and past elected officials, to say the least. Delilah Barrios and the Green Party of Nevada Steering Committee also stand with the National Black Caucus’s statement against vaccine mandates. Bodily Autonomy for everyone is a GPUS platform plank.
Erin: A quick shout out! Thank you for joining our monthly meeting. Your input has been valuable in advancing projects on the GPNV list. We always enjoy our members taking the time to participate in our party.
Right to Work: Recently there have been many companies that are now taking employees without contract to court, to force them to continue to work for them. Unanimously GPNV has decided to start working on a bill to repeal Right to Work, before a new form of indentured servitude can take hold in the State of Nevada. If you would like to collaborate or assist with creating a bill for the legislature, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at nvgreenparty@gmail.com. Right to Work was written where both employer and employee could terminate without notice, now that corporations are feeling the crunch of competitive wages or mental health decisions, the corporations only want a one sided control of employers being able to terminate at will.
Dispute Resolution: Alex Mann has decided to step down as Dispute Resolution Officer. Carrie Anne Harrington has stepped up and unanimously, all present voted to have Carrie Anne take over as our Dispute Resolution Officer. We hope that we will never need to use this type of action, but we are happy to offer this process if the need arises. Carrie Anne will take over at the beginning of our February monthly meeting.
Revenge Porn: Flabbergasted! Why is there not a tough law protecting and supporting victims of what has become a trend, Revenge Porn. The GPNV has released a statement in support of California’s Assembly Bill AB2065 to escalate offenses to felonies for the crime of Revenge Porn. The GPNV is also looking into presenting a similar Bill in the Nevada Assembly. Please reach out to us if you are interested in drafting a similar bill. California’s Bill AB2065 can be viewed at https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billTextClient.xhtml?bill_id=201920200AB2065
PO Box 2023: The GPNV is growing in strength and that will insure the GPNV’s continued existence for the foreseeable future. We have reviewed the need for a PO Box starting in 2023. The current rate is $192.00 for a whole year in 2022. To help support our Green Party future you please donate or purchase some of our swag!
Derrick Miles: On January 21, 2022 Derrick Miles submitted his resignation as the Douglas County At-Large member and removed himself from the GPUS-YoungEcoSocialist Caucus. Based on events that happened in December and early January, the GPNV Steering Committee has decided this was the best course of action at this time.
