Nevada Green Party’s Message and Impact
Communication System for Organizers and Volunteers
The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act
Certified Letter of Minor Party Continued Existence

Nevada Green Party’s Message and Impact

We recognize the need to refine our message to reach a broader audience and foster a more profound, far-reaching impact across Nevada and beyond. Your input is invaluable, and we encourage you to share ideas or priorities for the Nevada Green Party. Discussions have explored strategies to amplify our message and influence, including boycotting El Salvador despite implementation challenges, advocating for the revocation of certain patents to pressure political figures, and launching petitions on platforms created exclusively for the Green Party, to rally support. Additionally, the conversation has highlighted the superiority of Chinese electric vehicles, such as those by BYD, over Tesla, while emphasizing the barriers posed by capitalist constraints that limit access to affordable and beneficial products in the U.S.

Communication System for Organizers and Volunteers

An exclusive messaging app is being developed to address the critical need for streamlined and secure communication within the Nevada Green Party for organizers, volunteers, and members. Discussions have touched on recent political developments, including the passage of a bill in Congress and concerns about the Supreme Court potentially reviewing birthright citizenship. Frustration with incremental change has sparked calls for more radical approaches, alongside an emphasis on empowering all members and avoiding hierarchical structures. Additionally, concerns about voter confusion highlight the importance of educating the public about the party’s platform, particularly among non-partisan voters.

The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act

The Save Act seeks to tighten voter registration requirements by mandating proof of U.S. citizenship, such as a passport or birth certificate, for federal elections. While proponents claim it strengthens election security, critics highlight its disproportionate impact on marginalized communities, including low-income individuals, people of color, and married women whose legal names differ from their birth certificates. Additionally, the act threatens to disrupt vote-by-mail systems and eliminate widely-used registration methods like online and automatic voter registration. If implemented, it could profoundly affect voter accessibility and participation nationwide. The Nevada Green Party firmly opposes this legislation.

Certified Letter of Minor Party Continued Existence

In January 2025, the Nevada Green Party completed the paperwork to renew its Certificate of Minor Party Organization. After nearly three months of waiting, the party initially received only a photocopy of the certificate. Following persistent efforts—including numerous phone calls, emails, and a verbal confirmation from Nevada Green Party headquarters, to the Nevada Secretary of State’s Office—the official certificate, complete with the State Seal from the Nevada Secretary of State’s office, was finally secured April 21st, 2025.

### For Immediate Release ### SB415 – Red Light Cameras

The Nevada Green Party strongly opposes SB415 currently in the Nevada Legislature, authorizing the installation of red light cameras throughout the state, as these cameras would be operated by third parties, for profit and subject to excessive fines against Nevada drivers, for the sake of increased profit margins.  Furthermore, the installation and implementation of these cameras present serious Constitutional issues, due to the inability of the accused to confront the witnesses in the event of an accusation.

The Nevada Green Party encourages state legislators to vote against such legislation.

# FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE #

The Nevada Green Party condemns the arrest and detention of Mahmoud Khalil and calls for his immediate release and return to his family.

Khalil’s arrest and detention sets a dangerous precedent and heralds the erosion of American’s First Amendment rights to freedom of speech and assembly. Furthermore, it is an act of hostility towards Americans who oppose increased global militarization, the killing of innocent civilians, children, and families, and the increased appropriation of federal tax revenues towards such militarization at the expense of other domestic and global priorities.

Nevada Green Party Co-Chair Margery Hanson responded to an invitation for comment with the following poem by Emma Lazarus, from
the bottom of the Statue of Liberty:

“Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
‘Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!’ cries she
With silent lips. ‘Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me.
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

Hanson added, referencing the poem, “That is America, not this.”

Ballot Access
Voter Registration issues
Candidate Recruitment

Ballot Access

It has come to our attention that pursuing Ballot Access could begin now and continue until May of 2026, if we had more signature gatherers. Because we need 1% of all state residents who voted in the 2024 election, we would need 14,849 valid signatures for Ballot Access. It is our custom to try to acquire at least 3 times that amount. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Co Chair Margery Hanson at nvgreenparty@gmail.com

Voter Registration Issues

Several potential Green Party voters have reported receiving Voter Registration Cards marked “other” despite registering with the Nevada Green Party via the Secretary of State’s online portal or on paper forms. Co-Chair Margery Hanson has contacted Mark Wlaschin of the Secretary of States Elections Division, to address this issue, which we expect to be resolved promptly, as similar errors have already been corrected. This is especially important with an upcoming Voter Registration Drive.

Candidate Recruitment

The Nevada Green Party has succeeded in recruiting 3, possibly 4 people to run for office in the 2026 Election Cycle. Declarations will follow.

Discord

To reduce costs, our Organizing Director, Jacob Ford, has set up a secure and organized space for us on Discord, offering a better alternative to Zoom. Most invitations to join the channel have already been sent. If you haven’t received yours, feel free to reach out to us at nvgreenparty@gmail.com.

###FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE###

The Green Party of Nevada strongly condemns the vote of Senator Catherine Cortez-Masto (D) to advance the Continuing Resolution on President Trump’s budget priorities.

This budget will harm hundreds of thousands of Nevadans who depend on Medicaid and other social safety net programs, and by extension, will cause a drag on Nevada’s economy. The Green Party also rejects the argument that
refusing to support the Continuing Resolution will only embolden the White House, as many of Trump’s priorities were already contained within the Continuing Resolution.

Nevada Green Party co-chair Eric LaRue stated, “The case that the Democrats made for earning our votes was to prevent the Trump administration’s policies from causing harm to our citizens. If Senator Cortez-Masto is unable or
unwilling to act in opposition to these policies, Nevada voters will be happy to replace her with someone who will.”

Organizing Director

Ballot Access Strategy Moving Forward

H.R. 22

On the Agenda we encourage everyone to  pay special attention to House Resolution 22, specifically because of the way it attacks a woman’s right to vote. Women must provide proof of who they are via birth certificate and their current surname must match the name on their birth certificate, whether they’re married or not, no matter how many times they’ve been married or divorced. The only other proof that a woman can use is her passport.

Organizing Director

We are happy to welcome our new Organizing Director, Jake Ford. Thank you Jake for volunteering to help us get organized and get on the Ballot in the state of Nevada, as well as updating our inter-party communications and moving our monthly meetings from Zoom to Discord, won’t that be refreshing!

Ballot Access Strategy Moving Forward

With research covering the 2024 election, we discovered that in order to gain Ballot Access via petition and/or voter registration, we will need 14,849 registered voters, who participated in the 2024 election, to register with the Nevada Green Party. We are looking for volunteers to help with voter registration. If you would like to volunteer, please contact the Nevada Green Party via the NVGP official email at
nvgreenparty@gmail.com, and we want to thank GPUS Ballot Access Co Chair Tony Ndege, for his invaluable insight.
