Candidate Announcements

As we prepare for the 2026 election cycle, the Nevada Green Party is entering a pivotal phase of candidate recruitment and campaign development. Over the coming months, individuals across the state will begin announcing their candidacy for a range of offices, and our party is actively laying the groundwork to support their efforts.

Co-chair Eric LaRue is leading outreach to prospective candidates, engaging with community members who share our values of ecological wisdom, social justice, grassroots democracy, and nonviolence. At the same time, Organizing Director Jacob Ford is building the digital and logistical infrastructure needed to help candidates manage their campaigns effectively, from filing deadlines and voter outreach to communications and compliance.

We encourage all interested individuals to reach out to party leadership to explore the possibility of running for office. Whether you’re a seasoned advocate or a first-time candidate, this is a powerful opportunity to help shape Nevada’s future through principled, people-powered leadership.

While we welcome candidates for all ballot-accessible positions, we are especially focused on key races for Governor, Secretary of State, Congress, and State Assembly. These offices carry significant potential to advance our platform and bring ethical, transparent governance to the forefront of Nevada politics.
Together, we can build a slate of candidates who reflect the courage, clarity, and commitment our communities deserve.

Gerrymandering

Across the country, concern is mounting over the practice of gerrymandering, where Congressional districts are manipulated to serve partisan interests at the expense of fair representation. In several neighboring states, this trend has intensified, undermining public trust and distorting the democratic process.
Here in Nevada, however, we stand at a unique crossroads. Unlike states where one major party holds entrenched control, Nevada’s political landscape remains more balanced, creating a rare and meaningful opportunity for minor parties like ours to gain traction and offer voters a genuine alternative.

This relative equilibrium opens the door for principled candidates to step forward, unencumbered by the machinery of partisan dominance. It allows space for grassroots voices, ethical governance, and bold ideas to take root and flourish.
As we approach the 2026 election cycle, the Nevada Green Party is committed to seizing this moment, not only to challenge the status quo, but to model what transparent, inclusive, and accountable politics can look like in practice.

Strategy

The Nevada Green Party is actively evaluating strategies and practices brought forward by our members, drawing from their experiences in a wide range of organizations and movements. This collaborative process allows us to explore new methods for outreach, engagement, and governance, while remaining firmly rooted in our core values of transparency, ecological wisdom, grassroots democracy, and social justice.

Our members bring with them rich backgrounds working alongside diverse communities, labor unions, environmental coalitions, mutual aid networks, and advocacy groups, each offering insights that strengthen our capacity to connect with Nevadans across the state. These lived experiences are helping us build bridges, foster trust, and expand our reach in ways that reflect the inclusive, people-powered vision we hold for Nevada’s future.

As we integrate these approaches, we remain committed to ensuring that every strategy we adopt aligns with our foundational principles. This is not just about operational improvement—it’s about cultivating a movement that honors integrity, uplifts community voices, and charts a path toward a more just and equitable Nevada.

Moving The Website

We’re actively engaged in negotiations to transition our website from WordPress to a more open-source platform, one that better aligns with our values of accessibility, affordability, and user empowerment. The current setup, while functional, has posed limitations in terms of ease of use, customization, and cost-efficiency. By moving to a more streamlined and open alternative, we aim to foster clearer engagement pathways, reduce maintenance burdens, and free up resources to serve our community more effectively.

We’ll continue to provide timely updates throughout this process and welcome any feedback or suggestions as we move toward a more dynamic and inclusive digital space.

GPUS Current Status Report

The Green Party of the United States is currently in the midst of internal elections to select new leadership across key roles. The process includes voting for incoming members of the Steering Committee, our party’s primary decision-making body, as well as electing a new GPUS Treasurer and Secretary.

These transitions represent an important moment in our party’s development, offering an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to transparency, integrity, and participatory governance. As candidates present their platforms and members cast their votes, we encourage thoughtful engagement with the issues and qualities that define effective leadership.

We’ll continue to provide updates throughout the election cycle and share results once the process concludes. Thank you for remaining engaged as we work together to shape the future of GPUS.

Nevada Candidates Status Report

As part of our long-term electoral strategy, we’re currently in conversation with three potential candidates who are considering runs for office in 2026 and/or 2028. These individuals represent a bold, principled vision that aligns deeply with our values, each bringing unique experiences and commitments that reflect our priorities for justice, accountability, and grassroots empowerment.
While their official declarations are still forthcoming, we are working closely with them to ensure a strong foundation for their campaigns. Once they make their public announcements, we look forward to formally introducing them to our broader community and highlighting the transformative platforms they are developing.

This is an exciting moment for those of us committed to cultivating authentic leadership, stay tuned for their declarations and the momentum they’re poised to ignite.

Plans for the Future

We’re proud to share that Jacob Ford has taken an active leadership role in advancing the mission and visibility of our Party. His efforts have already begun yielding tangible results, bringing in new members, fostering deeper engagement, and identifying passionate individuals ready to take their commitment to the next level by running for office.

Jacob’s work reflects a broader momentum within our movement, one rooted in grassroots growth, principled leadership, and a renewed dedication to building power from the ground up. Through thoughtful outreach, organizing, and mentorship, he’s helping cultivate the next generation of Green Party candidates who are prepared to champion justice, ecological responsibility, and systemic accountability.

As this work continues, we remain committed to expanding our organizing infrastructure and supporting emerging leaders at every level. These plans represent not just hope for the future, but a concrete pathway toward a more representative and resilient political force.

New Friends

At our most recent Monthly Meeting, we were joined by a fellow Green from Canada who reached out expressing interest in our work and quickly became an engaged participant in our discussions. She’s preparing to relocate to Nevada and sought to gain insight into our State Party’s vision, culture, and organizing approach.

The exchange proved incredibly meaningful. Her questions sparked thoughtful dialogue, and her perspective added a welcomed layer of global awareness to our local efforts. It’s moments like these that remind us how interconnected our movements truly are, how shared values can bridge geography and amplify purpose.

We look forward to welcoming her fully into our community once she arrives, and we’re excited about the possibilities ahead as we continue building across borders with allies who share our vision for justice and ecological balance.

##For Immediate Release##

The Nevada Green Party fully condemns the shooting attack on two Minnesota Legislators this past week.  The escalating violence between American citizens who hold differing, conflicting, or even opposing political ideologies will ultimately not serve to solve the underlying problems, which are at the root of these conflicts, nor will it facilitate the problem solving process, that is crucial to improving the quality of life for citizens and residents of a democratic society.

These brazen political assassinations are, at their core, an outgrowth of the turmoil that is festering as a result of the eroded sense of safety and security that we have witnessed due to economic and social destabilization in recent years and decades.  And while condemning the attack itself, we further recognize that solving many of the economic and sociopolitical issues that the two major parties have failed to solve thus far would go a long way to quelling the unrest that leads to such acts of violence.

While working to bring the person responsible to justice, as well as to keep our citizens, elected officials, and candidates safe, we likewise call upon those elected officials and candidates to redouble their efforts to secure socioeconomic stability and security to their constituents.

Indigenous Voter Outreach
Dismissed and Disenfranchised

Messaging Communication System Update
June’s meeting focused on drafting a contract and exploring patent options for Organizing Director Jacob Ford’s technological innovations. The primary objective was to safeguard the application from misuse, exploitation, or abuse by bad-faith entities while establishing a robust security framework for intellectual property protection within Nevada Green Party Tech.

Voter Registration Drive
Co-Chair Eric LaRue is coordinating efforts to ensure regular participation in Las Vegas’ First Friday event, as well as organizing attendance at upcoming festivals across Nevada’s counties. Excitement is especially high for the Cantaloupe Festival, which everyone is eagerly anticipating!

Indigenous Voter Outreach
The Nevada Green Party is committed to building partnerships that empower Indigenous communities. As part of this effort, we intend to reach out to the Native Voters Alliance Nevada to explore opportunities for voter outreach and civic engagement within tribal nations. Our goal is to support voter registration drives, advocate for accessible polling locations on tribal lands, and provide educational resources on key ballot measures affecting Indigenous sovereignty, environmental protections, and community well-being. By fostering connections with Native leaders and activists, we aim to amplify Indigenous voices in Nevada’s political landscape, reinforcing equity, self-determination, and systemic change.

Dismissed and Disenfranchised
During our open discussion, we shared personal stories about how we found a home in the Green Party—a place where our voices matter. A common thread emerged: the experience of being overlooked, dismissed, and disenfranchised by the top-down structures of the two major parties. Their abandonment of the principles that once inspired civic engagement left many of us searching for a political movement that truly prioritizes equality and representation. Together, in the Green Party we are building a space that reflects those values, advocating for the people who have been left behind and working toward a shared vision of justice and accountability.

##For Immediate Release##

The Nevada Green Party strongly condemns the government of Israel in their airstrikes against the nation of Iran.  This act only serves to demonstrate their aggressive intent and will further serve to inflame military tensions in the region, it will lead to the deaths of innocent civilians in both countries.

Given the Israeli regime’s genocidal actions towards Palestinians in Gaza, and now compounding this with aggressive military actions towards Iran and other Middle Eastern nations they consider to be part of “Greater Israel” (despite the lack of historical claim or precedent), the most logical assumption is that the government of Israel is not acting in good faith, and American citizens must not allow themselves to become embroiled in the Israeli military’s bad faith actions.

The United States’ military expenditures already far exceed those of any of its domestic priorities, and have not served to preserve the safety of American citizens and residents, and instead, have only served to further endanger Americans by increasing hostilities towards our nation by its military engagements and encouraging those of its allies such as Israel.

We insist that the American voters condemn these actions by Israel, as well as Netanyahu’s intention to “fight Iran as long as necessary,” thus leading to further death and destruction of human lives.  Furthermore, we insist that the American government and its elected officials echo this condemnation as representatives of their constituents.

##For Immediate Release ##

The Nevada Green Party strongly condemns the actions of the Trump administration, in seizing control of the National Guard, in response to Constitutionally protected protests against the actions of ICE in recent months, against law abiding residents of this country.

While these actions took place in the state of California, to our west, we are watching with grave concern, that these actions will be mirrored in other states, where immigrants are experiencing harsh treatment by this administration, through ICE and its agents, who are further seeking to avoid accountability for their actions, including through extralegal means.  The dignity and human respect of those who come to our country for reasons of safety, security, and prosperity should not be in question.

Furthermore, the use of the National Guard in a clear attempt to suppress the First Amendment rights to free speech and freedom of assembly, sets a dangerous authoritarian precedent, one which this administration seems only too happy to set.  As such, all citizens, including those who may have supported this President in the past, should withdraw their support for this President as well as their consent, to be governed by these heinous acts.

Additionally, the Nevada Green Party condemns the votes of Reps. Susie Lee (NV-3) and Stephen Horsford (NV-4) to “express gratitude” to ICE in their acts of oppression and tyranny.

Nevada Green Party co-chair Eric LaRue stated, “Their constituents include those who are immigrants, who are the children of immigrants, as well as those of us who have family and friends who are immigrants.  If they believe that representing their constituents includes supporting these oppressive acts, I’m sure there will be those who are willing to rise up and challenge them in the next election, to demonstrate otherwise.”

Nevada Green Party officials remain available to any and all who would be willing to organize actions to counteract these acts of oppression. Please feel free to contact us at nvgreenparty@gmail.com

Nevada Green Party’s Message and Impact
Communication System for Organizers and Volunteers
The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act
Certified Letter of Minor Party Continued Existence

Nevada Green Party’s Message and Impact

We recognize the need to refine our message to reach a broader audience and foster a more profound, far-reaching impact across Nevada and beyond. Your input is invaluable, and we encourage you to share ideas or priorities for the Nevada Green Party. Discussions have explored strategies to amplify our message and influence, including boycotting El Salvador despite implementation challenges, advocating for the revocation of certain patents to pressure political figures, and launching petitions on platforms created exclusively for the Green Party, to rally support. Additionally, the conversation has highlighted the superiority of Chinese electric vehicles, such as those by BYD, over Tesla, while emphasizing the barriers posed by capitalist constraints that limit access to affordable and beneficial products in the U.S.

Communication System for Organizers and Volunteers

An exclusive messaging app is being developed to address the critical need for streamlined and secure communication within the Nevada Green Party for organizers, volunteers, and members. Discussions have touched on recent political developments, including the passage of a bill in Congress and concerns about the Supreme Court potentially reviewing birthright citizenship. Frustration with incremental change has sparked calls for more radical approaches, alongside an emphasis on empowering all members and avoiding hierarchical structures. Additionally, concerns about voter confusion highlight the importance of educating the public about the party’s platform, particularly among non-partisan voters.

The Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act

The Save Act seeks to tighten voter registration requirements by mandating proof of U.S. citizenship, such as a passport or birth certificate, for federal elections. While proponents claim it strengthens election security, critics highlight its disproportionate impact on marginalized communities, including low-income individuals, people of color, and married women whose legal names differ from their birth certificates. Additionally, the act threatens to disrupt vote-by-mail systems and eliminate widely-used registration methods like online and automatic voter registration. If implemented, it could profoundly affect voter accessibility and participation nationwide. The Nevada Green Party firmly opposes this legislation.

Certified Letter of Minor Party Continued Existence

In January 2025, the Nevada Green Party completed the paperwork to renew its Certificate of Minor Party Organization. After nearly three months of waiting, the party initially received only a photocopy of the certificate. Following persistent efforts—including numerous phone calls, emails, and a verbal confirmation from Nevada Green Party headquarters, to the Nevada Secretary of State’s Office—the official certificate, complete with the State Seal from the Nevada Secretary of State’s office, was finally secured April 21st, 2025.

### For Immediate Release ### SB415 – Red Light Cameras

The Nevada Green Party strongly opposes SB415 currently in the Nevada Legislature, authorizing the installation of red light cameras throughout the state, as these cameras would be operated by third parties, for profit and subject to excessive fines against Nevada drivers, for the sake of increased profit margins.  Furthermore, the installation and implementation of these cameras present serious Constitutional issues, due to the inability of the accused to confront the witnesses in the event of an accusation.

The Nevada Green Party encourages state legislators to vote against such legislation.

GPNV Co-Chair

# FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE #

The Nevada Green Party condemns the arrest and detention of Mahmoud Khalil and calls for his immediate release and return to his family.

Khalil’s arrest and detention sets a dangerous precedent and heralds the erosion of American’s First Amendment rights to freedom of speech and assembly. Furthermore, it is an act of hostility towards Americans who oppose increased global militarization, the killing of innocent civilians, children, and families, and the increased appropriation of federal tax revenues towards such militarization at the expense of other domestic and global priorities.

Nevada Green Party Co-Chair Margery Hanson responded to an invitation for comment with the following poem by Emma Lazarus, from
the bottom of the Statue of Liberty:

“Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
‘Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!’ cries she
With silent lips. ‘Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me.
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

Hanson added, referencing the poem, “That is America, not this.”
