# FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE #

The Nevada Green Party condemns the arrest and detention of Mahmoud Khalil and calls for his immediate release and return to his family.

Khalil’s arrest and detention sets a dangerous precedent and heralds the erosion of American’s First Amendment rights to freedom of speech and assembly. Furthermore, it is an act of hostility towards Americans who oppose increased global militarization, the killing of innocent civilians, children, and families, and the increased appropriation of federal tax revenues towards such militarization at the expense of other domestic and global priorities.

Nevada Green Party Co-Chair Margery Hanson responded to an invitation for comment with the following poem by Emma Lazarus, from
the bottom of the Statue of Liberty:

“Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
‘Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!’ cries she
With silent lips. ‘Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me.
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

Hanson added, referencing the poem, “That is America, not this.”

Ballot Access

It has come to our attention that pursuing Ballot Access could begin now and continue until May of 2026, if we had more signature gatherers. Because we need 1% of all state residents who voted in the 2024 election, we would need 14,849 valid signatures for Ballot Access. It is our custom to try to acquire at least 3 times that amount. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Co Chair Margery Hanson at nvgreenparty@gmail.com

Voter Registration Issues

Several potential Green Party voters have reported receiving Voter Registration Cards marked “other” despite registering with the Nevada Green Party via the Secretary of State’s online portal or on paper forms. Co-Chair Margery Hanson has contacted Mark Wlaschin of the Secretary of States Elections Division, to address this issue, which we expect to be resolved promptly, as similar errors have already been corrected. This is especially important with an upcoming Voter Registration Drive.

Candidate Recruitment

The Nevada Green Party has succeeded in recruiting 3, possibly 4 people to run for office in the 2026 Election Cycle. Declarations will follow.

Discord

To reduce costs, our Organizing Director, Jacob Ford, has set up a secure and organized space for us on Discord, offering a better alternative to Zoom. Most invitations to join the channel have already been sent. If you haven’t received yours, feel free to reach out to us at nvgreenparty@gmail.com.

###FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE###

The Green Party of Nevada strongly condemns the vote of Senator Catherine Cortez-Masto (D) to advance the Continuing Resolution on President Trump’s budget priorities.

This budget will harm hundreds of thousands of Nevadans who depend on Medicaid and other social safety net programs, and by extension, will cause a drag on Nevada’s economy. The Green Party also rejects the argument that
refusing to support the Continuing Resolution will only embolden the White House, as many of Trump’s priorities were already contained within the Continuing Resolution.

Nevada Green Party co-chair Eric LaRue stated, “The case that the Democrats made for earning our votes was to prevent the Trump administration’s policies from causing harm to our citizens. If Senator Cortez-Masto is unable or
unwilling to act in opposition to these policies, Nevada voters will be happy to replace her with someone who will.”

Ballot Access Strategy Moving Forward

H.R. 22

On the Agenda we encourage everyone to  pay special attention to House Resolution 22, specifically because of the way it attacks a woman’s right to vote. Women must provide proof of who they are via birth certificate and their current surname must match the name on their birth certificate, whether they’re married or not, no matter how many times they’ve been married or divorced. The only other proof that a woman can use is her passport.

Organizing Director

We are happy to welcome our new Organizing Director, Jake Ford. Thank you Jake for volunteering to help us get organized and get on the Ballot in the state of Nevada, as well as updating our inter-party communications and moving our monthly meetings from Zoom to Discord, won’t that be refreshing!

Ballot Access Strategy Moving Forward

With research covering the 2024 election, we discovered that in order to gain Ballot Access via petition and/or voter registration, we will need 14,849 registered voters, who participated in the 2024 election, to register with the Nevada Green Party. We are looking for volunteers to help with voter registration. If you would like to volunteer, please contact the Nevada Green Party via the NVGP official email at
nvgreenparty@gmail.com, and we want to thank GPUS Ballot Access Co Chair Tony Ndege, for his invaluable insight.

Strategy

Our meetings are growing and we’d like you to join us too! We need your input and ideas. Every idea is a good idea. We are organizing for 2026 and beyond. If you have a political platform or ideology you would like to promote, we are eager to hear it. Come be a part of our community, the third Sunday of every month at 7:00 p.m. We can do anything as long as we do it together.

Organizing

Our way forward is clear. Obviously we need better representation in Nevada. Now we have a path to garner that representation. Starting with social media, then video and audio programs. We’re looking forward to introducing everyone to our new YouTube/TikTok series entitled “Eco-Education” January of 2025. We’re drafting Green party candidates for office. In particular though, we would like to focus on the Nevada State Legislature. If you are interested in running for office in 2026, please email the Nevada Green Party.

Certification

It seems the Nevada Secretary of State’s Office is now dragging their feet. It was bad enough that we submitted the correct petition, only to be deliberately redirected to the wrong petition, for use at their discretion and approval, we are still waiting for our Certificate of Minor Party Organization, because that was submitted in early September via certified mail with a return receipt. They have been contacted 3 times now and still we have no Certificate. To add insult to injury, the Secretary of State’s Office has also arbitrarily changed our working title, giving us no notice whatsoever. Our patience is wearing thin.

Donors
We are very pleased to announce, we have gained 2 more sustaining donors.

Court Dates
At the 1st District Court of Nevada, we won. At the Nevada State Supreme Court, we lost , we are being made to pay for a “mistake” (and I use the term loosely) made by the NVSOS, We hold the opinion, the Nevada Secretary of State’s office mislead us deliberately and we are being made to pay for their misconduct.

The Democrats outnumbered the Republicans on the State Supreme Court, so we lost again. The Democrats are afraid of us. One of the Republican members of the Nevada State Supreme Court opined “We think we are doing the residents of Nevada a great disservice” about the ruling.

Due to the misapplication of jurisprudence in the state of Nevada, the door is now open for the Secretary of State’s office to do as they will, without fear of being held to Nevada Revised Statutes and/or the Nevada State Constitution, in other words, the law.

The Stein/Ware Campaign even sent an Emergency Application to the United States Supreme Court, which was refused by Justice Kagan, with no explanation whatsoever.

We found out that each United States Justice is in charge of a District and Nevada is in District 11, which falls under the purview of Justice Elena Kagan, who never even bothered to give us an explanation as to what would keep SCOTUS from reviewing our emergency application, again we say, “they’re afraid of the Green Party”.

Running for Office
Green Party People are showing a desire to run for office, so we’re in discussion about which races we think would be good political offices to run for in 2026 and beyond. If you have a desire to run for office, please contact Co Chair Margery Hanson at nvgreenparty@gmail.com

Billboards
In other news, the Stein/Ware Campaign has garnered enough donations to put up billboards in 32 states. If you would like to help donate so they can put up more billboards, just click the link below.

#PressRelease# For Immediate Release – Nevada Green Party Reply to SCOTUS

It is a sad day indeed, when not only the Nevada Supreme Court, but also the United States Supreme Court can choose the side of injustice.

The Nevada Green Party did the work and followed the rules laid out for us by the Nevada Secretary of State’s Office – Elections Division and the Nevada Revised Statutes. That a few people can deliberately hand out the incorrect information, then claim it was a “mistake” and still pass it on, causing financial hardship to the one Party who does not accept Corporate or AIPAC funding and relies on the generosity of its donors, trying to justify their malfeasance or just plain incompetence, only adds insult to injury.

They have removed our ability to “write-in” a candidate of our choice and replaced it with “None of the Above”, which we view as an act of voter suppression. What these people have done is not only shattered the public trust in government entities in this state, but endorsed their misconduct. They have made it more difficult to get a free and fair election in the state of Nevada. We don’t know what you call this, but it’s NOT democracy!

That being said, we would once again like to thank Jason Call for being the Nevada Green Party Representative for court proceedings, thank the Stein/Ware Campaign for all their help and ask that anyone who was looking forward to voting for Jill Stein and Butch Ware, register with the Green Party and only vote on Ballot Measures at the General Election. Especially to vote YES on question 3. Ranked Choice Voting is the only way to break the stranglehold the Duopoly has on elections and of course, do not vote for any candidates of the red or blue corporate owned persuasion.
