#NevadaGreenParty Inaugural Convention

At 10 a.m. today, we begin our Inaugural State Convention. It’s currently only on Zoom, though we look forward to In Person Conventions in the coming years.

This is the time to make platform submissions, to bring your ideas to OUR party, so we can bring them to fruition. This is also the time to meet your fellow Nevada Green Party members.

  1. The Convention begins at 10 a.m. every day this week until Saturday.
  2. The links to OpaVote will be sent out on Facebook and via email. You will be voting to retain Andrea Warzlow as Historian and Margery Hanson as Co-Chair. Then you will be voting for your Nominee for Nevada Green Party President. Keep in mind, you do NOT need to be a ” Dues-Paying Member ‘ To vote, just a Nevada Green Party member. We need a 51% majority to move forward.
  3. If you would like to volunteer to be a Delegate to the Presidential National Convention (also online), now is time to put your name forward.

Nevada Green Party Inaugural Convention

Is everyone ready for our Inaugural Convention?

There are three things we must address:

One concerns our 2 steering committee members elections. Co-Chair and Historian.

Two concerns a volunteer for the PNC at National.

Three concerns our nomination of who we endorse as our Presidential Candidate.

Currently Jill Stein is the only candidate running, who has met all the National Committee requirements to qualify.

All votes will be tallied through Opa-Vote.

Please remember, this is your chance to bring up the “Green Party” content that most matters to you. You tell us what you want and we try to bring the issues to fruition.

This Convention is online only, via Zoom and will be held from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., Monday March 25th, 2024 through Saturday March 30th, 2024. As always, look for the link in your inbox or on the Facebook Group and look for your Ballot to Opa-Vote in a separate email.

We are looking forward to hearing from you.

Nevada Green Party Convention

Surprise! We’ll be starting our Convention Monday March 25th, 2024, which will continue through Saturday March 30th, 2024. This Convention is virtual. Our elections for Co-Chair and Historian will be taking place during this convention. There will also be means to vote through Opa-Vote. At this time we will also be voting for our Nominee for the Presidential Nominating Convention for GPUS. We also need one more Delegate-Volunteer for the PNC. Results will be posted Sunday March 31st, 2024.

Our current Delegates are:

Daniel Alves

Paul Malikowski

and

Margery Hanson

Because we are a small group, there is no set Agenda. If you have a topic to be discussed, this is the time to bring it up.

The link to the Zoom Convention will be open every day from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Look for the link either here or in your inbox.

Nevada Green Party Newsletter – February 2024 Edition

The upcoming dates for the Nevada Delegate Convention: Mark your calendars! Our Delegate Convention will be held, on Zoom, Monday March 25th through Saturday March 30th, 2024. Which coincidentally is also when our Steering Committee elections take place for Co-Chair and Historian. We will need all your votes!

At this last meeting, it was decided by unanimous vote, all volunteers for the upcoming Presidential Nominating Convention, held by GPUS, will be honored. Therefore Daniel Alves, Margery Hanson and Paul Malikowski will be our representatives at the PNC. Due to the inactivity of one of the other volunteers, we will have one open seat for the PNC, which will be decided at our Delegate Convention.

Lo and behold! We have a QR Code for Voter Registration! Which will be distributed for use as soon as next week. Thank you Co Chair Daniel Alves for your work on this and thank you Andrea Warzlow for all your work on our necessary documentation!

We have also discovered an app entitled “Mobilize Me”. We’ll be joining their forum to broadcast our events over the upcoming election cycle and beyond. We were invited to join and best of all, it’s FREE.

Rick Lass, Ballot Access Director from the Jill Stein campaign, has informed us, we have a little over 7000 signatures towards Ballot Access in Nevada … 5000 to go! As it stands at this moment, we will be sending all the Nevada Ballot Access Petitions, to each respective County Clerk’s office via Certified Mail. That way we save on travel expenses and we have a record of receipt.

Over the next few weeks, we will be sending out a  list of Open Political Offices. Do YOU want to run for office? We want to support YOU! To that end, we are currently working on becoming a 501C4. Hopefully that effort will be completed before the end of March, that way we’ll be a non-profit and be able to offer our endorsement to Green candidates running for office. Just remember, if you do want to run for office, the final day to file for office, in the state of Nevada, is March 15th, 2024.

Look for new swag here.

And as always, we value your input and your support. No contribution is too small. Thank you for all you do!

More People
We love when more people come to our meetings! Whether you talk more than Margery, or stay muted the whole time, you are welcome to join!

Canvassing
We need ideas for local events because googling will only do so much. If you have any ideas, like local theater events or farmers markets or, well any event, please let us know. We are also asking for volunteers to come sit with us when we’re tabling and help us to gain Ballot Access signatures, as well as register voters. We have our tent and banner, and we are not afraid to use them! Our Green Party Canvassers are doing a great job but, we’ll take any help we can get. If you have an event you’d like us to attend, or would like to help in any way please reach out to:

Very Cool Pamphlet
We have a tri-fold pamphlet, which can be printed at home, featuring GPNV member artwork (which we can rotate through, to show off our wonderful members) and information, to be handed out or pinned on a local board, to spread the Green Party word!

Illegal Border Dispute
In other news, The Green Party of Nevada does not agree with governor Joe Lombardo, who supports allowing an illegal and dangerous blockade at the Texas border. The actions taken by Texas are abhorrent and should be stopped immediately. We also condemn president Joe Biden for failing to implement the action he stated he would .
The Nevada Green Party does not support the oppression of the most vulnerable people of our planet.
The way to resolve immigration, is by updating immigration laws, not using punitive and archaic laws to justify harming any people, who are seeking legal sanctuary in the United States.

Free Palestine
We of The Nevada Green Party deplore all violence, except in the matter of self defense. We find the blockade of food, water, electricity and medical care, to the indigenous people of Palestine, unacceptable. The Nevada Green Party also rebukes the Zionist Government for allowing the displacement of Palestinians since 1948. We abhor the collective punishment of Palestinians by Zionists and condemn the United States Government for being willing participants, by sending more weapons of death and destruction to Zionists, to continue attacks on innocent civilians, in the name of Capitalism and Colonialism, a violation of not only International Law, but also of the Geneva Convention. We find the bombing of hospitals and refugee encampments reprehensible. We find the blockade of vital food, water and medicine by the Zionists to be iniquitous. We stand with a Single State Solution, a return of Palestine to Palestinians and the dissolution of Zionist Settler Colonialism in all its forms and fashions. We join the call to have the United Nations implement measures to end the genocide in Palestine.
