From the Co‑Chairs

May has been a month of movement on multiple fronts; legal, organizational, and national. Even in the face of pressure tactics and shifting dynamics across the Green landscape, our chapter continues to stay focused on what matters: building durable democratic infrastructure in Nevada and advancing the nonpartisan referendum initiative that belongs to the people of this state.

Multi‑State Green Organizing Updates

A nonpartisan initiative petition began when a group of Nevada residents, who are also Green Party members, identified recurring governance issues that required a statutory fix. Four registered voters formed the legally required Petitioners’ Committee, drafted the proposed language, and submitted it to the Nevada Secretary of State for review. After the state approved the petition for circulation, organizers launched public outreach, prepared volunteers, and began collecting signatures statewide. The effort remained strictly nonpartisan and community‑driven, focused on transparency, accountability, and adherence to Nevada’s initiative process.

The group also reviewed ongoing efforts across several states:

    • Montana, Alaska, and California continue active petitioning and organizational work.
    • Hawaii recently advanced their initiative through the legislative process, demonstrating what persistence and local coalition‑building can achieve.

These cross‑state updates help us track national momentum and identify shared challenges and opportunities.

    Organizational Structure & Funding Plans

Forward‑looking plans to restructure the organization’s funding model and entity structure once additional resources are secured through upcoming fundraising efforts.

The goal: A more resilient, transparent, and sustainable organizational backbone that can support long‑term statewide work.

    National Green Party Developments

    • Mark Elborno resigned as GPUS Treasurer, the second person elected to that office, after Jason Call, to step down without completing any of the required work. Their departures were accompanied by the resignations of candidates Brian McGinnis and Mark Aguilar. We encourage our subscribers to look into all of their backgrounds on social media for a more in depth understanding.
    • Members expressed concerns about the backgrounds, motivations, and vetting of new individuals entering national roles.

These developments underscore the importance of strong internal governance and clear accountability at every level of the party.

    Closing Note

Nevada’s work continues with clarity and purpose. Even as the national landscape shifts and outside actors attempt to derail grassroots efforts, our chapter remains grounded in democratic process, community accountability, and the long view.

Thank you for staying engaged, informed, and steady.
