Legal Update on the Corporate Powers Clarification Act
Group briefing on the ongoing BizPac lawsuit targeting the Corporate Powers Clarification Act initiative. The court has determined that the Nevada Green Party is a proper plaintiff, allowing the Party to formally oppose BizPac’s arguments and defend the initiative’s right to proceed through Nevada’s statutory process.
A response filing is due September 28th, our attorney remains committed to completing the necessary legal work to protect the petition and its sponsors.
Signature Gathering Challenges
Discussion continued on the difficulty of collecting signatures statewide. Extreme heat has limited outdoor petitioning, and the Party’s limited presence in several rural counties has slowed progress.
While in‑person circulation is constrained, the initiative can still gain visibility through social media outreach, online education, and digital organizing, keeping momentum alive until weather and logistics improve.
Nonprofit Status & Fundraising Plans
The group revisited the possibility of establishing a nonprofit arm to support long‑term fundraising and community programs. Plans include preparing letters of recommendation outlining how nonprofit status would benefit Nevada residents through:
Environmental education and sustainability initiatives
Civic engagement programs
Expanded outreach in underserved counties
This structure would help stabilize funding and broaden the Party’s capacity to support statewide initiatives.
Closing Note
September’s meeting centered on navigating legal deadlines, adapting petitioning strategies, and strengthening organizational infrastructure. Despite external challenges, the Nevada Green Party continues
